Umbraco 13 reaches end of life on 14 December 2026. Umbraco 7 to 12, 14, 15 and 16 are already past end of life and receive no security patches. Koben upgrades Umbraco sites to Umbraco 17 LTS, which is supported until November 2028.

Umbraco 13 end of life
Umbraco 13 support ends 14 December 2026
After 14 December 2026, Umbraco 13 receives no security patches or bug fixes from Umbraco HQ. The .NET 8 framework it runs on loses Microsoft support earlier, on 10 November 2026. An upgrade needs time to plan, test and release. Starting now leaves room to finish before the end-of-life date, without rushing testing or releasing over the Christmas shutdown.

What an Umbraco upgrade includes
An upgrade moves your site to a supported Umbraco version without losing content, URLs or integrations. We upgrade the code, packages and database, test every template and integration on a staging site, and release with a rollback plan. Editors keep publishing until a short content freeze before release.
Sites on Umbraco 10, 13 and 16 are upgraded in place to Umbraco 17. Custom backoffice extensions written in AngularJS are rebuilt for the new backoffice introduced in Umbraco 14. Sites on Umbraco 7 and 8 run on .NET Framework, so the code is rebuilt on Umbraco 17 and the content is migrated across.
Code and packages
Umbraco, .NET and every package moved to supported versions, with replacements for packages that have no upgrade path.
Backoffice extensions
Custom property editors, dashboards and sections rebuilt for the new Umbraco backoffice.

Pricing accuracy and access
The accuracy of the price depends on the access you give us. Every assessment states which level applies.
Website address only: an indicative price range for budgeting. This is not a quote and only considered an estimate.
Backoffice access: an estimate based on document types, templates, packages and content volume. Although better access will provide a more accurate estimate, it will still only be an estimate and not a quote.
Source code, a recent database backup and hosting details: a fixed-price quote, valid for 30 days.
We can sign a confidentiality agreement before any access is shared.

14 December 2026. Umbraco 13 has been in its security-only phase since 14 December 2025, and after end of life it receives no security patches. It also runs on .NET 8, which Microsoft stops supporting on 10 November 2026. Our guide to Umbraco end of life lists the dates for each version.
Umbraco 17, the current long-term support (LTS) release. It runs on .NET 10 and is supported until 27 November 2028. Umbraco 18 is a short-term support release that reaches end of life in June 2027, so most organisations are better served by moving to 17.
